Fort Kiowa is a historic site located in South Dakota, USA. It was a trading post set up by the American Fur Company in 1822 along the Missouri River. The fort played a significant role in the fur trade during the 19th century, and was an important hub for trading with the Native American tribes in the region. The fort was originally named Trader's Point, but later renamed Fort Kiowa in honor of a nearby Native American tribe. It was abandoned in 1865 after the decline of the fur trade, and today, only the stone foundation of the fort remains. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
